As a member of the South African Cake Decorators Guild since 2011, I have enjoyed being part of a group of like-minded cake decorators and sugar artists that has existed for more than 40 years in South Africa.
I have had the privilege of entering many regional and National cake-decorating sugar art competitions. I am so grateful for these competitive shows that have enabled, not only to showcase our work or grow in our ability as a cake decorators & sugar artist but also improve our skills as a decorator/artist with every passing year.
I have been fortunate to receive top 5 positions in many of these shows, none of which I would’ve achieved, had it not been for the wonderful and amazing teachers in our guild that have taught and mentored me over the years, A big thank you to my greatest teacher and now very dear friend, Barbie Lindeque, who in my opinion is one of the masters of cake decorating in our guild, regionally and nationally, over the past 40 years that she has been doing this (She will probably disagree)
I have since been able to go on to become a qualified Basic Cake Decorating Instructor with the SACDG which has enabled me to teach. I love teaching and mentoring people who have a passion to become or be better cake decorators. Monthly we have new people coming through to learn through our lessons.
